| The 1500 square foot house is centrally located to all Olympic venues. 2 floors: open concept living, dining kitchen and powder room on main floor; 2 bedrooms (mountain view from one of the bedrooms), office and full bath upstairs. The sleeping capacity is up to 6. The house has in-suite laundry, Bosch dishwasher, Jenn-Air gas stove, gas fireplace, high speed wireless internet, full cable TV, DVD player, stereo and phone. There is a lovely garden and front porch with a barbeque. The home is situated on a quiet residential street just steps away from the vibrant neighborhood of Commercial Drive (2nd and Commercial), considered Vancouver's most unique shopping and dining neighborhood (See: http://www.thedrive.ca/). At the end of street you will find Fratelli's (renowned Italian bakery in Vancouver) and Callabria Coffee Bar. Within a two minute walk is a 24 hour supermarket, banks, liquor store, pharmacy, ice cream parlor, butcher, gym, dry cleaners, hardware store and the Libra Room jazz club. Commercial Drive (and within the range of 5 blocks of our home) are a range of Italian, French, Greek, Cuban, Mexican, Ethiopian, Japanese and Indian restaurants. Organic food stores are plentiful. 10 minutes from our house is Brittania Community Centre (http://www.britanniacentre.org/) which has a pool, library, skating rink and fitness facilities. We are also a 10 minute walk to Trout Lake Park. The house is one block from a bus service leading downtown (about 12 minute bus ride to the city centre, GM Place and BC Place). It is a 7 minute walk to the sky train station (Vancouver's above-ground subway system). Other attractive locations near by: - Athletes Village 2.8 km; 7 minutes by car - Vancouver Olympic and Paralympic Centre 4.0 km; 8 minutes by car - BC Place 3.2 km; 7 minutes by car - Canada Hockey Place 4.5 km; 9 minutes by car - Pacific Coliseum 2.6 km; 7 minutes by car - Killarney Rink 5 km; 8 minutes by car - UBC Thunderbird Stadium 13.0 km; 20 minutes by car - Richmond Oval Centre 15.0 km; 23 minutes by car - Cypress Mountain 39 km to top or 45 minutes by car - Whistler 132 km; 2 hrs drive (using bus is encouraged by 2010 organizers) |
